Education in Switzerland

It is natural that Expats moving to Switzerland want to look for a good school to send their children to. However, in Switzerland the system is such that you are allocated a school depending on where you live; there isn’t a choice regarding the school your children attend.

There are however private schools, designated for expats who do not intend to stay in Switzerland for more than two or three years. In this case the children are better off in a school that follows an international curriculum. Families who plan to integrate themselves in Swiss society and culture may choose to have their children attend a local school.

“In Switzerland, 95% of the pupils attend public schools as the education is considered to be of a high standard”*
