Sek Profile B

The Sek Profile B program is designed for students with average academic abilities. After completing three years of lower secondary education, they begin a vocational training program. In doing so, they acquire solid knowledge and become sought-after skilled workers in the job market.

In classes of up to 18 students, learners are taught according to the cantonal curriculum. Teachers take into account the individual needs of their students and support them accordingly.

Special education teachers provide additional support for students with specific learning difficulties. Through differentiated tasks, students develop transferable and career-related skills.

In career education classes and during career exploration placements, students gain insights into the world of work. Through project-based work, culminating in an in-depth project, students learn to approach and understand topics holistically across different subject areas.

Placement in Profile B is determined by the primary school. Students demonstrate sufficient subject-specific and transferable skills to remain in Profile B. Accordingly, they meet the required expectations across different assessment methods and settings.

The professional judgment of homeroom and subject teachers forms the basis for decisions regarding the student’s educational pathway and, therefore, continued placement in Profile B. A change to Profile A or C is possible at the end of a semester or school year.
