Sek Profile A

The Sek Profile A program is designed for students with strong academic abilities. They show a high level of interest and commitment to academic learning.

In classes of up to 22 students, learners are taught according to the cantonal curriculum. Assessments are carried out in different forms and formats. In learning labs (four to five lessons per week), students learn how to independently plan and work on learning content. They are supported and guided by their teachers. Two lessons per week are dedicated to talent development.

To ensure that students are able and well prepared to successfully complete challenging vocational training programs and academic high schools, a comparatively fast pace of instruction is maintained.

Students with specific learning difficulties are supported by special education teachers.

Placement in Profile A is determined by the primary school. Students demonstrate strong subject-specific and transferable skills in order to remain in Profile A. Accordingly, they consistently achieve high evaluations across various assessment methods and settings. The professional judgment of homeroom and subject teachers forms the basis for decisions regarding the student’s educational pathway and, therefore, continued placement in Profile A.

Students in Profile A have access to around 250 vocational training programs. They also can complete a vocational baccalaureate during or after their training.
