Secondary (middle) School Profile C

For which young people is the secondary (middle) school Profile C designed?

The work school specifically supports pupils who need more support in the traditional subject catalogue of the cantonal lesson plan.

What are the key characteristics of the Profile C?

With class sizes up to a maximum of 13 pupils, the secondary (middle) school Profile C can support young people on an extremely individual basis. The teachers have additional special education training, ensuring that they can meet pupils’ special needs. Deficits in cognitive ability are specifically addressed. The pupils work on a practical basis in projects. This helps them to fulfil basic requirements and facilitate their integration into the labour market.

Academic performance

Learners receive a regular school report from the Canton of Schwyz. At the end of the school year, they are also issued with a word report that provides information about their subject-specific and interdisciplinary competences.

A reclassification to secondary school profile B is possible at certain points in the school year or at the end of the school year. The career decision is based on the holistic assessment of the teachers.

What opportunities are there for pupils from the Profile C?

Profile C pupils who perform well can take up an apprenticeship within the scope of the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (EFZ). If this proves to be too demanding, an apprenticeship within the scope of the Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training (EBA) can be completed. If integration into the labour market is not yet possible or prudent, there is the possibility of a combined bridging offer. These follow-up opportunities are often chosen:

  • Retail assistant in various industries
  • Health professional
  • Care specialist
  • Automotive assistant
  • Metal construction practitioner
  • Hairdresser
  • Operational maintenance specialist
  • Meat specialist
  • Restoration specialist
