As in any profession, punctuality and attention to detail are essential in this trade. To succeed as a carpentry apprentice, students need good manual dexterity, strong spatial awareness, technical aptitude, excellent teamwork skills, good physical health, strength and agility, and the ability to work comfortably at heights during installation work.

What do you look for when selecting an apprentice?
For a career in carpentry, strong math skills and good spatial reasoning are essential. This includes algebra, decimal calculations, geometry, angle calculations, and a solid understanding of the International System of Units (SI).

Do all apprentices pass the final certification exam?
Unfortunately, about 25% do not. The main reason for this relatively high failure rate is that many apprentices do not keep up with the studying required throughout their apprenticeship.

What does it take to complete an apprenticeship successfully?
A successful apprenticeship requires more than enjoying the work. It also takes perseverance and a willingness to devote enough time to studying at home for vocational school.
