I would definitely recommend LIFT because it gave me the opportunity to experience so much and learn so much. Through LIFT, I’ve become better at handling difficult situations. I’ve learned to stand up for myself, and I’ve grown mentally stronger.

How has LIFT influenced you?
LIFT didn’t just change my life. It also changed the way I think and act. It gave me a realistic understanding of what working life is like. I learned how to work quickly and efficiently, noticed that adults communicate differently than teenagers do, and, overall, I became more mature.

What did you learn through LIFT that you wouldn’t have learned at school?
I completed two work placements in the activities department of a nursing home and one with a florist. The biggest thing I gained from LIFT was learning how to work with and relate to adults.

Did your LIFT work placements help you find an apprenticeship?
I included my LIFT certificate with my apprenticeship application, and it helped me secure an apprenticeship as a Certified Nursing Assistant. My long-term goal is to become a self-employed midwife.
