Elion (15): Facilities Caretaker and Auto Body Repair Technician
I had the opportunity to volunteer and gain valuable firsthand insight into the world of work. During my three-week work placements as an Automotive Technician, a Facilities Caretaker at a nursing home, and an Auto Body Repair Technician, my supervisors placed their trust in me. As I gained experience, I was given increasingly challenging tasks and responsibilities.

How did LIFT help you find an apprenticeship?
Thanks to my participation in LIFT, I was able to secure an apprenticeship as an Automotive Technician in my local area.

What did you learn through LIFT that you wouldn’t have learned at school?
LIFT gave me the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience and skills that I would never have learned in the classroom.

Why would you recommend LIFT to other young people?
Balancing LIFT with my homework was never a problem because I always planned ahead. I would definitely recommend LIFT to students who are motivated, work hard, and want to prepare themselves for their future.
